  • UNDP in partnership with the Office of the Prime Minister, Gender Affairs Division and the Network of NGOS for the advancement of Women hosted a Democratic Dialogue on Nationally Insitutionalising Gender Equity on Thursday 8th December 2016 at the Leon Agostini Conference Hall at the Chamber of Commerce, Westmoorings. Emphasising the new sphere of global policy development focused on a more expansive development paradigm based on inclusiveness, equality and sustainability; national partners were brought together to collaborate and discuss effective mechanisms to achieve progress in the area of gender equity and mainstreaming.

  • In March, 2015, the Juvenile Court Project Office continued its series of workshops with juvenile justice stakeholders. The group met to discuss processes related to the apprehension and bail of children under 18 who are accused of committing a crime.

  • On Wednesday 30, November 2016, UNDP Launched the 2016 Caribbean Human Development Report (CHDR) in Trinidad and Tobago at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre. The report focusses on human resilience and seeks to expand the way we think about progress and well-being.

  • On July 16, 2015, the Juvenile Court Project (JCP) team had an opportunity to raise awareness about the impending Children Court and Peer Resolution at a workshop entitled, “Managing Behavioural and Psychosocial Issues in the Classroom”. The workshop was facilitated by the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC) on behalf of the Ministry of Education.

  • In October 2015, more than forty young volunteers in Tobago were exposed to intensive training to prepare them to act in various roles of a typical court setting. These roles includes peer judges, peer advocates and peer assessors. The training first started with personal development centered on the values of self-esteem and leadership; it was followed by training designed to equip them to perform the various roles of Peer Resolution.
